Conspiracy theory... my take...

Lebanese politician Pierre Gemayel gets killed. Then suddenly all the mainstream media starts to hint that it could be the work of the Syrians. Now, there's an anti-Syria riot in Lebanon. You know what? As of now, there are no evidence that points to Syria. All we know is, the guy got killed! What makes everyone convinced that Syria did it? Because the media keeps harping on the fact that Gemayel is anti-Syria! That's all! Let's sit back and look beyond the fog of the media and analyse. Who will stand to gain the most with this guy's death? Syria is still getting a lot of flak from Rafiq Hariri's death. In fact, they've lost considerable influence in Lebanon because of that. They claim they have no role in Hariri's death. Even then, Syria has lost plenty from the effect of these accusations. They were forced to withdraw from Lebanon. Would they want to further undermine their influence in Lebanon by killing another Lebanese? If you were them, would you? Know pretty clearly that everyone will blame you even if you didn't do it? To a lesser extent, the US and its allies are starting to warm up to Syria (and Iran). Okay, it isn't obvious, but let's face it. They need their help in stabilising Iraq. It is a chance for Syria to patch relations. Maybe even show that they are responsible citizens to planet Earth. Would they want to kill an insignificant guy to botch this up. If you where them, would you? The weakening of Syria's military influence in Lebanon caused by the first assassination allowed their bullying neighbour to attack indiscriminately. (Of course they did not expect the Hezbollah win.) This bullying neighbour also stand to benefit most with a messy Iraq, since Iraq has the potential to become a region powerhouse, as seen before Bush Junior decided to 'avenge' daddy. Who would stand to gain the most if Syria remains a global outcast and Iraq remains a total mess? Well, I would think we all know the answer. And what is the easiest way to do that? I'm sure we all know the answer. Kill a politician in Lebanon, preferably an anti-Syrian one.

Clients not paying up their dues?

Have no fear, Commando Lim is here! Well, that is, if he doesn't scare off his own clients in the first place, cos he certainly gave my colleagues a shock when he crept up behind him (commando style) and did a sudden 'Excuse me! Do you need to collect debt?' and shoved a name card in his face. I would have categorised this as a normal non-event where touts come into the office to sell stuff but this guy... he has a name card and his name card puts him a cut above the rest. Check it out. His details can be seen clearly, so if any of you readers require such services, I think can consider lah... heh heh...

MPs decry whinging Singaporeans, call for soul searching

"A nation of complainers" was one of the labels MPs in Singapore used on the electorate. (Yup, people who put them there.) And what other way to illustrate that than to spend parliamentary time complaining. After all, MPs too form the nation. In fact, they lead the nation, so... I guess must also lead us in the complaining department. When I look at the MPs whining about the people who put them there, it just look pathetic. Pot calling the kettle black comes to mind. Here are some complaints about complaints that I cannot understand... "When the lift landing of our flat is not clean … we call the town council..." I do believe residents pay conservancy fees to the town council, who in turn engage contractors to keep the place clean ya? So... don't call town council then call who? "When there are mosquitoes in the neighbourhood, we call the NEA (National Environment Agency)" Well, I'm not sure if they are the right people to call, but I believe if call pest control, they spray whole neighbourhood without permit, they sure kena fine by NEA one... so ur... call who ah? Town Council? Or wait until someone kena dengue fever? "If things don't improve, we go to our MPs or tell the media." Well, after a session of MPs whining, I guess going to the MP isn't a good idea anymore... maybe go to the media. But wait, media might not publish... lan lan suck thumb lor... Then this guy dunno suddenly change to... working together to strengthen resilience within the family... I believe cleanliness and hygiene in the neighbourhood has got nothing to do with the strength and resilience of a family. Wah! Very confusing... Then another one say must go running... to provide an environment where people can run their own race... wah seh! What makes her think people want to run in the first place? Anyway, I gotta run lah... ate too many bananas and papayas... so got the runs and must complete my run.

Tanjong Rhu 包 in Thomson?

31102006024-TgRhuPao Originally uploaded by toadjuice.
Perhaps I've not been eating from this pau shop for too long but since when did Tg. Rhu pau end up in Thomson? Cars parked illegally along double yellow lines shows that it is still popular as ever. But really, I don't think very much of it. It's edible, I guess, not fantastic. Not worth getting a traffic fine, anyway.
